Any way you slice it, our current world is A LOT to process right now – emotionally, physically and spiritually. For the past three months some of us may have been finding ourselves needing to tap into our self-care “tool boxes” on a daily basis to help keep our heads in the game. And let me tell you, there are a ton of crystals in that toolbox.
Why crystals? Crystals, which are formed from minerals in Mother Earth’s surface, emit vibrational frequencies that can speak to our body’s energy system in different ways. I’ve come to learn firsthand that the health of our energy system can have direct impacts on our physical and emotional states. This is one of the reasons why I’ve been drawn to start working with crystals daily, over the past few years. They are a great partner along with other tools such as, meditation, energy healing, exercise, journaling, nutrition, etc. All of these tools to help navigate through things like anxiety, fear, depression and sleep related challenges.
I have collected crystals of all shapes and sizes over the years which has created a slight space problem in my home. Because of that I have a good amount of options in my crystal toolbox that I work with on rotation. Here are four crystals that are particularly resonating with me now:

Peaceful Amazonite
Do you like the feeling of sitting in a peaceful setting in nature with the birds chirping, a slight breeze and a hint of jasmine in the air? Then you’ll probably like Amazonite. Amazonite, usually a lovely blue green in color, is a stone of tranquility and harmony. It especially aligns with the throat and heart chakras, enhancing the ability to communicate from the heart and connect with your truth. Amazonite is also a great stone to help calm the nervous system when experiencing stress. When my mind is in overdrive, I like to sit quietly with Amazonite over my heart for about 10-15 minutes, taking long, slow breaths. I’ve found doing this right before I go to sleep is a helpful way to start quieting mind chatter before I hit the hay.

Fiery Carnelian
I find Carnelian to be such a cool crystal to vibe with. This fiery orange brown stone is a form of Chalcedony which is a member of the Quartz family. Carnelian connects with our first three chakras, Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus. More notably with our second chakra, known as our Sacral chakra, which houses our creativity, our passion and our life force. Carnelian helps to gently process strong emotions such as fear, anger and grief so that the body can maintain its vitality. It’s also a crystal of action, helping to give the confidence to overcome fears! I love to wear Carnelian or stick it in my pocket (read: bra) on days when I am feeling sluggish, worn out or defeated. I’ve also enjoy meditating with Carnelian when I am focusing on something related to creating or manifesting.

Comforting Lepidolite
Ah, Lepidolite. It’s like a warm, fluffy robe on a cool, fall day. Lepidolite is a calming stone that helps balance all of our chakras, notably the heart and the third eye chakras. It helps ease stress and worry to allow transition to a state of acceptance and resilience. On top of that, Lepidolite is an awesome sleeping stone, my friends! Who can’t use a little help in that department these days? Lepidolite assists with insomnia caused by stress, anxiety and/or nightmares. On stressful days, I like to meditate for 10-15 minutes prior to bed with Lepidolite on my third eye, Amazonite on my heart and Smoky Quartz at my feet. Which leads me to another fav of mine….

Rooted Smoky Quartz
I feel that it is more important than ever that we keep ourselves grounded right now. And Smoky Quartz is pretty freaking amazing at helping us do just that. This crystal aligns with our root chakra which correlates with our physical body, our connection to Mother Earth and our survival instincts. Smoky Quartz is also stellar at protecting us from negative energy in our environments. This is a great stone to wear, keep in a pocket (or a bra if pockets aren’t available), especially when going out and interacting with the world. Keep a larger piece in your living room to help create a zen, relaxing atmosphere. As far as an all-around, versatile crystal, you can’t go wrong with Smoky Quartz.
So, what is the best way to choose a crystal for yourself? I say, it is all about your intuition. Trust the stones that you are drawn to and research their properties. If you can, do some browsing at a local crystal shop so that you can touch and feel these beauties. Or, if you dare, dive down the rabbit hole of the hundreds of crystal shops listed on Etsy! If you start searching, the crystals that you need have a funny way of finding you.
Many crystal blessings!
